Barber & Cosmetologist
Bama Barbershop & College – Chandler, Arizona
Bama Barbershop & College is seeking passionate, talented, and professional Barbers and Cosmetologists to join our growing team. We are looking for individuals who take pride in their craft, provide excellent customer service, and enjoy creating a welcoming experience for every client.
This is a 1099 position.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide professional barbering and/or cosmetology services based on individual licensure and training.
- Perform haircuts, fades, tapers, lineups, beard trims, straight-razor services, shampooing, styling, and other barbering services.
- Provide cosmetology services such as cutting, styling, coloring, chemical services, extensions, and other services within the scope of the employee’s license.
- Consult with clients to understand their desired style, hair-care needs, and service expectations.
- Recommend appropriate professional hair and beauty products based on client needs.
- Maintain a clean, organized, professional, and welcoming workstation.
- Follow all required sanitation, disinfection, infection-control, and safety procedures.
- Properly clean and disinfect tools, equipment, chairs, stations, and service areas between clients.
- Maintain compliance with applicable Arizona barbering and cosmetology laws, rules, and licensing requirements.
- Provide excellent customer service and build positive, professional relationships with clients.
- Assist with appointment scheduling, client check-ins, confirmations, and customer inquiries when needed.
- Promote services, retail products, and available appointments in a professional manner.
- Maintain accurate client and appointment information using the shop’s scheduling or management system.
- Work collaboratively with other barbers, cosmetologists, instructors, students, and administrative staff.
- Support a positive environment that encourages professionalism, respect, education, and continued growth.
- Stay current with industry trends, techniques, products, and continuing education.
- Assist with shop cleanliness and daily opening or closing responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Current and valid Arizona Barber or Cosmetology license required, as applicable to the services performed.
- Previous barbershop, salon, or beauty-industry experience preferred.
- Strong haircutting, styling, grooming, or cosmetology skills.
- Knowledge of sanitation, disinfection, and infection-control procedures.
- Professional appearance and strong customer-service skills.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Dependable, punctual, and organized.
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality service.
- Willingness to continue learning new techniques, trends, and industry practices.
- Experience with appointment-scheduling or salon-management software is a plus.
- Retail sales and product-recommendation experience is a plus.
- Bilingual skills are a plus but are not required.
