Position Summary
Molimo is seeking a Thermal Testing & Simulation Manager to lead the Thermal Testing and Simulation department at our York, PA headquarters. This is a hands-on leadership role for a technically minded engineer who can both understand the physics and industry standards governing our thermal certification work, and effectively lead, schedule, and develop a team of 8–12 including physical test technicians, computer simulators, and administrative staff. You will own day-to-day department operations — scheduling, equipment and calibration oversight, staff development, business development, industry representation, and quality.
Key Responsibilities
- People leadership: Directly supervise, schedule, and develop a team of 8–12 - training, performance management, workload balancing. quality, and safety.
- Thermal Physical Testing: Oversee day-to-day execution of thermal transmittance testing of physical products
- Thermal Simulation: Oversee day-to-day execution of computer-based thermal simulations
- Technical Knowledge Center: Serve as the technical expert for thermal testing, simulation, and certification. Use this knowledge to assist employees and advise customers on projects.
- Quality & compliance: Maintain ISO 17025 lab procedures; keep equipment calibration records, technician certifications, and test documentation audit-ready.
- Scheduling: Manage test scheduling and throughput against client deadlines.
- Continuous improvement: Drive continuous improvement — equipment upgrades, process automation, and training programs — in coordination with the simulation and quality teams.
- Business Development: Molimo’s technical managers are respected industry experts and proactive in seeking out, engaging, and servicing new prospects. Continued business development is a critical part of this role
- Staffing: Support hiring, onboarding, and long-term staffing plans for the department as testing volume grows.
- Industry Representation: Engage in technical industry organizations as a Molimo representative and technical expert. This will include a need to travel to in person conferences throughout the year.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or a related Engineering discipline — or equivalent hands-on experience in a technical test-lab environment.
- Experience: 5+ years in a testing laboratory, quality, or technical manufacturing environment. Experience with fenestration, building envelope products, or NFRC/AAMA/ASTM standards is strongly preferred.
- Management: 3+ years directly supervising a technical or production team, ideally including non-engineering staff.
- Technical aptitude: Comfortable being hands-on with test equipment, instrumentation, and calibration procedures — this is a working-manager role, not purely administrative.
- Communication: Strong organizational and communication skills; able to translate effectively between engineers, technicians, and clients.
- Software: Familiarity with THERM, WINDOW, AutoCad or similar building-envelope simulation software is a plus but not required — training will be provided.
Nice to Have
- Working knowledge of ISO 17025 lab-accreditation requirements.
- Experience with or knowledge of the standards and requirements of the National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC)
- Experience with test-lab scheduling, tracking, or job-management software.
