Paid training hours are flexible and start immediately (mornings & evenings, weekdays & weekends). Currently hiring to fill Weekday evenings, and Sunday mornings starting in the Fall.
Swim Instructors teach the fundamentals of swimming. No aquatics knowledge is necessary - we provide paid training and will prepare you to lead your own classes. We teach water safety, athletics and life skills the fun way: with games, drills, and story-telling.
Expectations - The Swim Instructor:
Acts as a representative of the Hydra Aquatics Brand, and presents themselves professionally in both deed and appearance;
Operates with an attitude of respect to self, others and the environment around them;
Communicates openly, honestly and free of negativity (harassment, intolerance, gossip, etc.);
Demonstrates excellent customer service skills, and attends to reasonable requests;
Is responsible for managing clock-in/clock-out, availability for scheduling, and finding proper replacement in the event a scheduled shift cannot be attended;
Carries out reasonable requests made by any superior employed by Hydra Aquatics in a timely manner and with due attention to detail.
Pool Safety - The Swim Instructor:
Is responsible for participant safety in their individual area(s) of responsibility during lessons;
Is responsible for keeping eyes on all swim lesson participants at all times for the duration of the lesson;
Is responsible for teaching safe pool entry and exit skills, as well as safe behavior on deck;
Assists other staff with any and all illness, injury, accident, or activation of the EAP (Emergency Action Plan) while on the premises; and
Understands and enforces the Jefferson Country Club/Hydra Aquatics Rules and fairly and politely;
Instruction - The Swim Instructor:
Arrives before class starts, so as to be ready to begin teaching at scheduled class start time;
Is responsible for planning and teaching swim lesson classes in accordance with Hydra Aquatics swim lesson curriculum;
Adapts instruction to their participants based on age and ability in order to meet lesson program objectives and the needs of individual participants;
Communicates effectively with participants, and their guardians regarding educational progress;
Tracks participants attendance and skills progress daily;
Attends all trainings and meetings.
About Hydra Aquatics
Hydra was born during the pandemic as a not-for-profit competitive USA sanctioned swim team in central Ohio. Our goal is to empower young people to be champions in and out of the water. What started as a swim team soon grew to include a swim lessons program. Our lessons program is specifically designed to develop the hard-working mentality and skills needed to join Hydra’s swim team, and succeed in life outside the pool.
