Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist / Insurance Verification specialist to join our healthcare team. Duties
- Greet patients warmly and professionally, ensuring a positive first impression at the front desk
- Verify patient insurance coverage
- Review and update patient medical records accurately within EMR/EHR systems while maintaining strict confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA policies
- Schedule patient appointments efficiently using medical scheduling tools and multi-line phone systems
- Collect and process insurance information, including Medicare, Medicaid, CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, and other health insurance details
- Conduct documentation review to ensure completeness and accuracy of medical records and care plans
- Assist with medical billing processes, including coding and submitting claims to insurance providers
- Maintain organized filing of medical records and correspondence in compliance with clinical confidentiality policies
- Provide excellent patient service by answering phone inquiries with proper phone etiquette and managing intake procedures with professionalism
- Support clinical staff with administrative tasks such as data entry, typing reports, and managing electronic health records (EHR)
Experience
- Prior clinic experience or healthcare administrative support is highly preferred
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems
- Strong knowledge of health insurance processes including verification for Medicare and private insurers
- Experience with medical coding (CPT, ICD-9/10) and medical billing practices necessary
- Demonstrated clerical experience involving filing, data entry (including 10 key typing), and multi-line phone systems
- Familiarity with clinical confidentiality policies and HIPAA regulations essential
- Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite and health information management tools required
- Exceptional customer service skills combined with effective phone communication and professional demeanor
