Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Cultivation to lead and innovate our cultivation operations. In this pivotal role, you will oversee all aspects of plant growth, greenhouse and outdoor cultivation, crop production, and horticultural team management. Your expertise will drive the development of sustainable growing practices, ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs), and optimize crop yields. Duties
- Lead and manage all cultivation activities across greenhouse and outdoor environments, including planting, pruning, trimming, harvesting, and plant maintenance.
- Develop and implement comprehensive SOPs for crop production, irrigation management, pest control, and environmental controls to ensure consistent quality and compliance.
- Oversee irrigation systems and agricultural environmental control systems to maintain optimal growing conditions tailored to various crops.
- Manage horticultural teams by providing training, guidance, and performance feedback to foster a motivated and skilled workforce.
- Monitor crop health through plant identification skills, pest management strategies such as integrated pest management (IPM), and regular inspections for pests or diseases.
- Coordinate irrigation schedules and manage irrigation systems to promote efficient water use while supporting healthy plant growth.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards related to heavy lifting, use of hand tools, gardening equipment, and outdoor work conditions.
Skills
- Extensive experience with greenhouse cultivation, outdoor gardening, and landscaping practices.
- Strong knowledge of irrigation management, agricultural environmental control systems, and crop pest management techniques.
- Proven ability to develop and enforce SOPs for horticultural operations.
- Skilled in managing horticultural teams with effective communication and leadership abilities.
- Hands-on experience with plant identification, garden trimming, lawn care, land maintenance, and plant pest control methods.
- Familiarity with basic math skills necessary for measurements, calculations related to irrigation flow rates or fertilizer applications.
- Physical capability for heavy lifting and performing outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
