Overview: We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly skilled Optical Technician to join our team! In this role, you will be responsible for assisting in the preparation, fitting, and maintenance of optical equipment, as well as working closely with Opticians and other eye care professionals to ensure our customers receive exceptional service and the highest quality eyewear. Key Responsibilities:
- Optical Equipment Support: Set up and maintain optical equipment, including lens edgers, frame tracers, and other devices used to craft and modify eyewear. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues as they arise.
- Lens Preparation: Assist with lens cutting, edging, and fitting to ensure they meet prescription specifications. Verify the thickness, curvature, and quality of lenses before they are sent to customers.
- Frame Adjustments: Work with Opticians to adjust frames to ensure they fit comfortably and provide optimal vision correction. Perform frame repairs and modifications as needed.
- Customer Service: Collaborate with Opticians to help customers select lenses and frames that best fit their needs, style, and budget. Provide technical explanations and guidance to customers on the benefits of different lens types and coatings.
- Prescription Accuracy: Accurately interpret prescriptions provided by Optometrists and ensure that orders are processed with precision.
- Inventory Management: Assist in maintaining inventory levels of optical supplies, frames, and lenses, ensuring the availability of necessary materials for efficient service.
- Quality Control: Inspect completed eyewear orders for quality assurance, ensuring that lenses are properly fitted and that frames are aligned to meet customer specifications.
- Technology Integration: Stay up-to-date with the latest optical technologies and tools. Assist with the integration of new equipment and processes that enhance operational efficiency.
- Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with Opticians, Optometrists, and other staff to provide seamless and accurate service to customers. Communicate effectively to ensure orders are completed on time and meet high standards.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an Optical Technician, or in a related technical field (such as lab technician or optometric assistant).
- Strong understanding of optical lenses, materials, and eyewear technologies.
- Ability to operate optical equipment and machinery with precision.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues effectively.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team.
- Customer-focused, with a professional and friendly attitude.
