American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position at a Level 1 Trauma academic medical center in Winston-Salem, NC, requiring a minimum of 2 years of Med/Surg experience and night shift availability.

Night shift position, 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM
-
Every other weekend rotation required
-
20-bed Transitional Care Unit split across two wings (5A and 5B)
-
General Med/Surg patient population including CHF, COPD, kidney/liver/GI/respiratory conditions, CIWA patients, infections, and wounds; any service line may admit, including general surgery

Patient ratio of 1:5
-
Required non-titrating drips: Heparin, Lasix, and Protonix
-
Preferred non-titrating drips: Cardizem and Amiodarone (training available if no experience)
-
Cardiac rhythm interpretation assessed via strip check-offs during shift
-
EMR: Epic; Alaris IV pumps and Omnicell medication dispensing system
-
Floating within scope of practice across the hospital may be required
-
No on-call requirements

50% of assigned holidays must be worked during the contract

Active NC RN license or compact license currently in hand

Current BLS and ACLS certifications required

Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience required, with most recent experience within the last year

Proficiency with trachs, chest tubes, IV starts, wound care, dressing changes, wound vacs, drains, and central line blood draws
-
Experience with non-titrating drips (Heparin, Lasix, Protonix) required

Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position

At least 1 professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN dated within the past year required for consideration

Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

Level 1 Trauma designated, academic medical center with 885 licensed beds, a Chest Pain Center, and a Stroke Center
-
Unit support includes 1 CNA per wing, a shared charge nurse, 24/7 phlebotomy, respiratory therapy, hospitalist, and residents; bedside monitors with a central monitor at the nurses' station

Orientation includes hospital NEO followed by 2 orientation shifts on the unit
-
Schedule is built in 6-week increments; travelers are placed into open slots
-
Up to 7 days of RTO may be approved during the contract

Royal blue scrubs required

Must have been separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position to be eligible
