About Us
We're a growing financial services firm looking for a Controller to lead our accounting function and partner with leadership on strategy. This role offers a genuine path to Chief Financial Officer (CFO) level responsibility—you'll own the financial books, drive profitability, and help shape how we scale.
What You'll Do
- Oversee month-end close, financial statements, and regulatory filings including FOCUS, SSOI, and SIPC reports.
- Verify accounting work and ensure General Ledger (GL) accuracy and GAAP compliance.
- Prepare quarterly board packages and manage the annual broker-dealer audit.
- Build financial models to support pricing, negotiations, and scenario planning.
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and surface insights to inform business decisions.
- Identify cost savings, revenue opportunities, and working capital improvements.
- Mentor junior finance staff as the team expands.
- Evaluate and implement financial tools and automation to reduce manual work.
What You'll Need
- 7 to 10 years of experience in finance, accounting, or compliance.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or equivalent work experience.
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Proficiency with QuickBooks or similar accounting software.
- Ability to communicate financial data clearly to non-finance leaders.
- Proactive mindset: you identify inefficiencies and take action.
Nice-to-Haves
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credential or FINRA licenses such as Series 79, 24, or 27.
- Prior experience in broker-dealer or financial services.
- Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, Power BI, or Tableau.
- Hands-on background automating financial processes or willingness to learn.
