An established agriculture company is seeking a Logistics/Transportation Supervisor to join their growing operations based in the Miami area. This position oversees domestic and international logistics operations, including transportation management, import logistics, freight procurement, carrier contract negotiations, and cold-chain distribution. This role is responsible for ensuring cost-effective, compliant, and efficient movement of products via air, ocean, and truck transportation while maintaining product quality and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will have background in either fresh produce distribution, produce importing/exporting, cold storage operations, food or beverage distribution, or agricultural supply chain management. MUST BE FLUENT IN SPANISH/ENGLISH TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS ROLE.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Transportation & Distribution
- Manage daily inbound and outbound shipments of fresh produce.
- Coordinate transportation schedules with carriers, warehouses, customers, and suppliers.
- Ensure on-time deliveries while minimizing freight costs.
- Monitor shipment status and proactively resolve transportation issues and delays.
- Negotiate transportation and service contracts with air, ocean, and trucking carriers to secure competitive rates, capacity, and service levels.
- Manage and oversee freight operations across multiple transportation modes, including air freight, ocean freight, and over-the-road trucking.
- Maintain strong relationships with carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and logistics providers.
- Manage freight claims and transportation-related disputes.
Produce Supply Chain Management
- Oversee the movement of fresh produce from farms, packing facilities, ports, and distribution centers to customers.
- Manage import logistics activities, including international shipments, customs clearance, USDA/FDA compliance, documentation, and coordination with customs brokers and freight forwarders.
- Coordinate ocean container arrivals, port operations, drayage, warehousing, and final-mile transportation.
- Monitor inventory levels and product aging to minimize shrink and spoilage.
- Ensure proper product rotation and adherence to FIFO (First In, First Out) practices.
- Coordinate receiving and shipping schedules based on customer demand and inventory availability.
Quality & Food Safety
- Ensure compliance with FDA, USDA, FSMA, GAP, GMP, and company food safety programs.
- Work closely with Quality Assurance to maintain product quality throughout the supply chain.
- Monitor temperature-controlled transportation and cold chain integrity.
- Investigate quality concerns and implement corrective actions.
Team Leadership
- Supervise logistics team in Ecuador
- Establish performance expectations and monitor employee productivity.
- Train and develop team members on logistics procedures, safety practices, and customer service standards.
- Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Customer Service & Communication
- Maintain strong communication with customers regarding delivery schedules and service issues.
- Collaborate with Sales, Purchasing, Operations, and Quality departments to fulfill customer requirements.
- Manage urgent issues related to late deliveries, shortages, product quality, and transportation disruptions.
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Analyze logistics and transportation performance metrics.
- Develop strategies to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.
- Prepare weekly and monthly logistics reports.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements within the supply chain.

Qualifications/Experience Needed
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field-preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of logistics, transportation, warehouse, or produce industry experience.
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory or management experience.
- Experience with refrigerated transportation and perishable products strongly preferred.
- Experience in produce importing, distribution, or wholesale operations is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of fresh produce supply chains and cold chain management.
- Knowledge of transportation regulations and produce handling requirements.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong negotiation and vendor management abilities.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and logistics software proficiency.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish required.
