Westport, MA | Part-Time on Call
Do you enjoy working outdoors, helping animals, and serving your community? We are hiring a Part-Time on Call Animal Control Officer to join the Board of Health team.
What You’ll Do:
- Respond to calls involving loose, injured, abandoned, or mistreated animals
- Enforce local and state animal control laws
- Educate residents about responsible pet ownership
- Work with police, veterinarians, shelters, and wildlife professionals
- Issue citations and keep basic records
- Respond to occasional after‑hours animal emergencies
What We’re Looking For:
- Someone reliable, calm, and comfortable working independently
- A person who cares about animals and public safety
- Good communication skills and sound judgment
- Prior animal, public safety, or outdoor work experience is helpful—but not required
The Work: This role includes outdoor fieldwork in all weather conditions and may involve physically and emotionally challenging situations. Every day is different.
