Preschool Assistant Teacher Qualifications & Education:
Candidates must meet one of the following educational tiers:
- Tier 1: A Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, or Elementary Education, or the human services field from an accredited college or university
- Tier 2: 15+ credit hours from an accredited college or university in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, Elementary Education, or the human services field AND 1 year of professional experience
- Tier 3: 2 years of professional experience working with children
Important Note: Experience must be professional and verifiable.
Preschool Assistant Teacher Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Support: Collaborate with Lead Teachers to implement Goddard’s play-based curriculum and daily lesson plans.
- Developmental Support: Foster emerging self-help skills (handwashing, potty training, and feeding) through intentional teaching moments.
- Classroom Management: Maintain a clean, organized, and stimulating environment
- Observation & Collaboration: Assist in documenting child progress and collaborating with faculty to ensure individual learning success.
- Leadership Support: Coordinate daily activities and supervise aides in the absence of the Lead Teacher.
- Professionalism: Build meaningful, professional relationships with families through respectful and clear communication.
Job Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED (minimum).
- Eligible to obtain and maintain all required Pennsylvania child care background eligibility and health assessment documentation.
