Responsibilities
- Assist patients and residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Monitor vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration to ensure patient stability.
- Support medication administration under supervision, ensuring accurate documentation in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by following infection control protocols and aseptic techniques.
- Document patient care activities thoroughly in medical records while respecting HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to coordinate care plans for individuals with complex needs such as dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or behavioral health conditions.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to enhance the quality of life for patients with chronic or acute conditions including trauma or infectious diseases.
Requirements
- Valid CNA certification or equivalent caregiving credentials recognized by state licensing boards.
- Experience working with diverse populations including seniors, individuals with disabilities, or pediatric patients.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic life support (BLS).
- Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks is preferred.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting with assistive devices like Hoyer lifts and standing for extended periods.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
