Salary: Based on the 202627 Extra Duty Schedule (Tier 1 @ up to 5%, based on experience)
Summary:
Fort Lupton Middle School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant Volleyball Coach for the upcoming school year. The ideal candidate has previous coaching and/or playing experience, is passionate about teaching the fundamentals of volleyball, and is committed to helping middle school student-athletes grow both on and off the court.
The Assistant Coach will work under the direction of the Middle School Head Volleyball Coach to support practices, competitions, player development, and the overall operation of the volleyball program. This position will help create a positive, competitive, inclusive, and student-centered environment while reinforcing the expectations and philosophy established by the Head Coach and Athletic Department.
The Assistant Coach will also support alignment between the middle school and high school volleyball programs to promote consistency in player development and a successful transition to the high school level.
Responsibilities:
Program Leadership

Assist the Head Coach in planning, organizing, and conducting practices, games, and team activities.

Coach an assigned team or level as directed by the Head Coach and Athletic Director.

Assist with game-day preparation, warm-ups, lineups, substitutions, statistics, and other coaching responsibilities.

Teach and reinforce volleyball fundamentals, including serving, passing, setting, hitting, blocking, defense, rotations, and team concepts.

Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, accountability, perseverance, and a positive team culture.

Support the philosophy, expectations, systems, and goals established by the Head Coach.

Assist with equipment, uniforms, facility setup, inventory, and other program needs.

Follow all school, district, and league rules, policies, and procedures

Assist with coordination, communication and transition from the Middle School to High School program
Athlete Development

Help student-athletes develop fundamental volleyball skills and an understanding of the game.

Provide positive, constructive, and age-appropriate feedback to players.

Encourage academic success, consistent attendance, effort, accountability, and appropriate behavior.

Support the individual development of athletes at varying skill and experience levels.

Help student-athletes develop confidence, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship.

Serve as a positive role model and mentor for student-athletes.
Communication & Safety
-
Maintain professional and timely communication with the Head Coach, Athletic Director, players, families, and school staff.

Direct significant parent or program concerns to the Head Coach and/or Athletic Director as appropriate.

Maintain a safe, inclusive, respectful, and appropriately supervised environment during practices, competitions, travel, and team activities.

Assist with monitoring athlete eligibility, grades, attendance, and participation requirements.

Follow all district procedures related to injuries, emergencies, student supervision, transportation, and athlete safety.
Qualifications:
-
Previous coaching or playing experience preferred.

Experience working with middle school-aged student-athletes preferred.

Knowledge of volleyball fundamentals, rules, skills, and strategies
-
CPR/First Aid certified (or willing to obtain).

Must successfully complete all district-required background checks and coaching requirements.

Must pass a background check, sign a coaches manual and meet coaching requirements.
Additional Expectations:

Available for after-school practices, games, and occasional weekend events.

Actively support students academically and personally.
-
Represent Fort Lupton Middle School and Weld Re-8 Schools professionally and positively at all times.
