On-Call Substitute Preschool Teacher Job Summary
Little Lights Learning Center is seeking caring, dependable, and enthusiastic On-Call Substitute Preschool Teachers to join our team! We are looking for individuals who enjoy working with young children and are flexible enough to step into the classroom when regular staff members are absent.
As a Substitute Teacher, you will help maintain a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment while following classroom routines and supporting children's development. Whether assisting the Lead Teacher or temporarily leading the classroom, you will play an important role in providing consistency and quality care for our preschool children.
This position is ideal for retired teachers, college students pursuing education degrees, substitute teachers, or experienced child care professionals looking for flexible work opportunities.
Responsibilities
- ✦ Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of preschool children at all times.
- ✦ Follow lesson plans and daily classroom routines provided by the Lead Teacher or Director.
- ✦ Support children's social, emotional, cognitive, physical, and language development.
- ✦ Foster a warm, positive, and engaging classroom environment.
- ✦ Encourage positive behavior using developmentally appropriate guidance techniques.
- ✦ Assist with classroom activities, meals, outdoor play, transitions, and cleanup.
- ✦ Communicate effectively with the Director and classroom staff regarding the day's activities and any concerns.
- ✦ Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when interacting with children and families.
- ✦ Follow all Kentucky child care licensing regulations, health and safety procedures, and center policies.
- ✦ Support the mission and faith-based principles of Little Lights Learning Center.
Qualifications
- ✦ Experience working with young children in a preschool, child care, school, or educational setting is preferred.
- ✦ A genuine love for children and a positive, patient attitude.
- ✦ Dependable, flexible, and able to adapt to different classroom environments.
- ✦ Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- ✦ Ability to maintain a safe, calm, and organized classroom.
- ✦ Ability to meet applicable Kentucky child care licensing requirements.
- ✦ CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain required certifications.
- ✦ Must be able to successfully complete all required background checks.
Pay: $15.00 per hour
