Position Summary
Shepherd Safety Systems designs, manufactures, and rents asset-to-enterprise technology that detects gas emissions in real-time and connects remote field operations with office locations to protect worker safety and reduce environmental impact.
We are seeking a physically capable, self-motivated Field Technician to join our team. This role demands more than just technical ability—it requires physical stamina, quick responsiveness to field hazards, and the mental resilience to manage extended shifts in unpredictable conditions.

Key Expectations for This Role
To be successful in this role, candidates must:
· Be at least 21 years old (due to driving and client site safety requirements).
· Pass a physical fit test as part of the pre-employment process.
· Understand and accept that the job is physically intensive, often performed in harsh environmental conditions.
· Be comfortable with irregular work hours, including 10–12 hour shifts, night shifts, on-call rotations, holidays, and weekends.
· Be self-motivated and dependable—there may be downtime, but staying engaged and responsive is critical.
Essential Job Functions
· Respond to gas alarms on drilling rigs and take immediate action to assess, clear, and render the situation safe.
· Conduct monthly calibrations and inspections of gas sensors in the field.
· Perform maintenance and repair of safety equipment on-site and in the shop.
· Operate and maintain heavy safety equipment.
· Regularly lift and transport equipment weighing up to 100 lbs.
· Conduct safety observations and audits on job sites.
· Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all work performed.
· Follow all company and client safety protocols. Minimum Qualifications and Skills
· Must be at least 21 years old to meet driving and client site requirements.
· Must possess a valid and active driver’s license.
· Must successfully pass a drug screen, criminal background check, and a physical fit-for-duty test to confirm ability to meet the physical demands of the role.
· 1–2 years of related experience in field service or safety-related industries; oilfield or gas detection experience is preferred.
· Relevant technical or safety certifications are a plus.
· Strong mechanical aptitude with troubleshooting and repair skills.
· Proficiency with diagnostic tools, software, and technical equipment.
· Physically able to work in extreme outdoor conditions, including lifting up to 100 lbs, kneeling, climbing, and standing or walking for extended periods. · Comfortable working long shifts (10–12 hours), nights, holidays, weekends, and on-call rotations.
· Must be self-motivated, dependable, and adaptable to changing environments and job demands.
· Strong communication, documentation, and situational awareness skills are essential.

Work Environment & Additional Information
· This is a field-based, on-site position that operates in various outdoor environments, often in remote oilfield locations. Technicians will be regularly exposed to harsh weather conditions, uneven terrain, hazardous materials, and potential gas exposure. The role requires use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including gas monitors and other safety gear, and may involve working near heavy machinery, at heights, or in confined spaces.
· Due to the safety-sensitive nature of the work, adherence to company and client safety protocols is critical.
Extended work hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call rotations, should be expected. This position demands strong situational awareness, physical stamina, and the ability to stay engaged even during periods of downtime.
