American Traveler is hiring a travel LPN for an acute care Med/Surg unit in Brevard, NC, requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and current BLS certification for night shift coverage.

Acute care Med/Surg unit in a 30-bed hospital setting
-
Patient ratios of 2-4:1 for stepdown/ICU patients and 5-6:1 for Med/Surg patients, with 2-3 PCTs on the floor

Night shift schedule: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
-
Equipment includes IV pumps, SCDs, Nova Stat glucometer, wound vac, Baxter feeding pump, lift equipment, and Pyxis

EMR: Cerner
-
May be required to float to the TCU

Weekend rotation required (approximately 3 Mondays and Fridays per 6-week schedule); holiday coverage per staffing matrix

Active LPN license required (license required if applicable)

Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in acute care or Med/Surg

Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment)

Cerner EMR experience

US SSN and date of birth required for consideration

One professional reference required (two references required if licensed in Florida or Missouri)

Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not eligible

Procedures performed on the unit include IV starts, central venous line (CVL) and arterial line management, Foley catheter insertion, EKG monitoring, and wound care
-
The unit operates on a Team-Based Care model, with daily interdisciplinary rounds including MDs, nurses, case management, pharmacists, and PT/OT to discuss patient care and discharge planning

Unit cares for a broad acuity range, from Med/Surg to ICU-level patients, requiring adaptability in a fast-paced environment

Nurses are required to wear navy blue scrubs
-
No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
-
13-week assignment
