This is your chance to be a part of the 2022 National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA) National Gold Medal winning park system! A Camp BREC Director works at a designated Recreation and/or Special Facility locations recreation developing, promoting and operating summer day camp, coordinating group activities, training and supervising staff, actively participates in daily events, completing related paperwork.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Education Required: Bachelor Degree in Recreation or closely related field (Physical Education, Elementary Education); Three (3) years camp experience may be substituted for educational requirements, Equivalent combination of education and experience will be consideredOther: Ability to plan and organize all aspects of day camp management; Knowledge of objectives and philosophy of day c& Ability to work with campers, staff, parents, and general public; ability to motivate and encourage cooperation and teamwork; Ability to swim; Ability to maintain accurate records and reportsA Camp Director has a wide range of responsibilities, and some camps require special expertise such as: Camp Sunshine - Special Education/Therapeutic RecreationZoo – Biology/Zoology/Wildlife Management/Pre-VetFarr Park – considerable horseback riding experienceMagnolia Mound – History/Anthropology/Archeology

Work Availability Required: Full-time - Seasonal11 weeks - May 18, 2025 to August 7, 2025Training Week: May 25-29 (Community Recreation) and May 18-29 (Special Facilities)Summer Camp Timeframe: June 1 -August7Seasonal position, as scheduled for day camp sessions, within general framework of 8 hours per day, 5 days per week; meal break as needed.Resumes will not be accepted in lieu of a completed application.
