Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Experienced Accounts Receivable / Collections Specialist to join our dynamic finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the full cycle of accounts receivable, ensuring timely collection of outstanding balances, and maintaining accurate financial records. Your expertise in collections account management, and customer service will be essential in optimizing cash flow and supporting our organization’s financial health. This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your technical accounting skills while collaborating with internal teams and clients to resolve billing issues efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Manage an assigned portfolio of commercial customer accounts.
- Proactively collect outstanding receivables while maintaining positive customer relationships.
- Research and resolve invoice discrepancies, short pays, deductions, and billing disputes.
- Work closely with Operations, Billing, Customer Service, and Sales to facilitate timely payment resolution.
- Monitor customer payment trends and identify potential credit risks.
- Accurately post, reconcile, and maintain customer account records.
- Review aging reports daily and prioritize collection efforts based on risk and exposure.
- Document collection activity and maintain detailed account notes.
- Meet established collection goals and key performance metrics.
- Assist with month-end activities and other accounts receivable functions as needed.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of commercial Accounts Receivable and Collections experience required.
- Transportation, logistics, trucking, warehousing, or supply chain industry experience is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated success managing high-volume customer portfolios.
- Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting or transportation management systems.
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
