Job Title: Detox Nurse/Medical Staff (LPN/RN)
Summary
Detox Nurse (LPN/RN) is responsible for rendering nursing care in detoxification and residential treatment in terms of individualized client needs, according to dependent and independent nursing functions and conformance with recognized nursing techniques, procedures, and established standards based on the scope of practical nursing, under the direction/delegation of the registered nurse.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Essential duties and responsibilities of the LPN include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Utilize nursing knowledge and skills in the safe implementation of basic preventative therapeutic and rehabilitative nursing care of assigned patient/client as evidenced by documentation and observation of positive patient care outcomes.
- Perform delegated independent nursing functions using established procedures, policies, guidelines and standards as observed by the registered nurse.
- Administer medication accurately, observing patient response, as evidenced by documentation in the medical record and lack of negative outcomes
- Maintain and coordinate communication among patient/significant other, staff and Medical Director as evidenced within medical record, client and health care team feedback.
- Assist in assuring that effective communication exists with patient/significant other as reflected in the plan of care. Give punctual change of shift report consisting of pertinent and relevant information for assigned clients.
- Work collaboratively with other members of the health care team in coordination of the patient's care as evidenced by feedback.
- Use available written and AV materials specific to patient condition. Utilize appropriate teaching methods such as one-on-one and group instruction, demonstration or discussion.
- Assist clients, family members, and others with concern and empathy; respect their confidentiality and privacy and communicate with them in a courteous and respectful manner.
- Answer and refer telephone calls or other inquires to ensure accurate and timely communications are facilitated.
Education and/or Experience
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (for LPN/RN); a minimum of one year of experience in a healthcare environment.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Must maintain current and valid registration as a Licensed Practice Nurse (LPN), Registered Nurse (RN) and CPR/First Aid certification.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
This job operates in a residential healthcare setting. This role requires regular walking and climbing stairs to various locations around the facility. This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses.
