Duties
- Perform thorough cleaning of commercial spaces, including offices, restrooms, hallways, and common areas using appropriate cleaning equipment and supplies.
- Handle chemical agents safely, following all safety protocols for mixing, application, and disposal to ensure a secure environment.
- Operate floor buffers and other custodial equipment to maintain pristine floor care, including buffing, stripping, waxing, and polishing surfaces.
- Conduct sanitation procedures in accordance with health standards to ensure hygiene in high-touch areas such as restrooms and kitchens.
- Assist with light maintenance tasks such as minor repairs, painting touch-ups, and facilities upkeep to support overall building maintenance.
- Follow safe lifting practices when handling heavy cleaning supplies or equipment to prevent injuries during manual handling tasks.
- Maintain detailed records of cleaning activities, supply inventories, and safety compliance checks for accountability and quality assurance.
Experience
- Proven janitorial or custodial experience in a commercial setting is required.
- Familiarity with industrial cleaning techniques and commercial cleaning equipment is essential.
- Experience handling chemical agents safely and knowledge of chemical handling safety procedures is highly desirable.
- Prior work involving floor care—including buffing, stripping, and polishing—is preferred.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols related to facilities maintenance and heavy lifting practices.
- Customer service skills are important for interacting professionally with clients or building occupants when needed.
- Previous porter or maintenance experience will be considered an asset for this role.
