The compensation above is the estimated hiring range for this position. Final offers are determined based on a variety of factors including skills, experience, qualifications, internal equity, and other job-related considerations.

What You Will Be Doing:
The Editorial Specialist must exercise independent judgment and possess discretion in making decisions on the front-end of a key aspect of our core business (shaping and positioning the books we publish). The Editorial Specialist is also responsible for performing detailed, substantive editing on our book manuscripts, and proactively engaging with authors with the end goal of helping our readers know, love, and serve Jesus Christ. This work is highly intellectual and specialized.
Essential Functions:

- Work with Developmental Editorial Team
- Prepare manuscripts for typesetting; care for detail (e.g. endnotes, formatting, etc.).
- Review page proofs/assist with proofreading house-wide.
- Compile editor and author corrections to second pages.
- Use iThenticate to review/flag instances of plagiarism or insufficient citations
- Developmentally edit manuscripts.
- Production Process Specialist
- Register books with Library of Congress.
- Take on various back-end tasks (archiving/shelving books, CIP data, registering for copyright, etc.).
- PPM/Tracking Report
- Schedule Organization.
- Expert in Tracking Report.
- Permissions Coordinator
- Review and respond to permissions requests.
- Coordinate with other departments when necessary to resolve requests.
- Other related administrative tasks that are helpful to the Editorial team.
Minimum Requirements:
- Loves books.
- Strong theological grounding and an appreciation for Moody’s platform.
- Able to work in the US legally without sponsorship.
Preferred Requirements:
- Organized individual with self-starting capabilities, able to prioritize a task list.
- Understanding of the inner workings of the publishing process as a whole.
- Willingness to take on detail-oriented tasks.
