Position Overview
Pro Impact Basketball is hiring a part-time Youth Basketball Trainer to work with players in kindergarten through eighth grade in the Des Moines area.
The trainer will lead individual and small-group (4-8) development sessions using Pro Impact’s established skill progressions, teaching standards, and training resources. This position is designed for a dependable basketball coach who can teach fundamental skills clearly, create an organized and positive training environment, and adapt instruction to different ages and ability levels.
Pro Impact Basketball provides individualized player evaluations and development training built around detailed instruction, advanced skill development, and individualized development plans. Pro Impact works with youth, high school, NCAA, NAIA, JUCO, and professional players, including all-americans, conference players of the year, professional players, and WNBA draft picks.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead individual and small-group basketball development sessions for K–8 players.
- Teach age-appropriate fundamentals using Pro Impact’s established skill progressions.
- Provide clear demonstrations, instruction, feedback, and corrections.
- Develop players in ball handling, passing, finishing, shooting, footwork, movement, defense, and decision-making.
- Adjust drills and teaching methods based on each player’s age, experience, and development needs.
- Prepare for sessions using Pro Impact’s Development Manual, Drill Manual, and training resources.
- Maintain a safe, organized, focused, and encouraging training environment.
- Communicate professionally with players, parents, and Pro Impact leadership.
- Track attendance, player progress, and relevant session notes.
- Arrive on time and ensure all assigned sessions begin and end as scheduled.
- Follow Pro Impact’s coaching standards, policies, curriculum, and player-development philosophy.
- Assist with evaluations and group training events when scheduled.
Required Qualifications
- Basketball playing, coaching, or player-development experience.
- Strong understanding of fundamental basketball skills.
- Ability to teach children in kindergarten through eighth grade.
- Clear communication and demonstration skills.
- Dependability, professionalism, and consistent attendance.
- Ability to organize and manage individual and small-group sessions.
- Willingness to learn and follow the Pro Impact development system.
- Ability to pass a background check before working with athletes.
- Reliable transportation to training locations throughout the Des Moines area.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience coaching or training youth basketball players.
- Experience working with multiple ages and ability levels.
- College basketball playing or coaching experience.
- Current CPR, AED, or First Aid certification.
- Experience communicating with parents about player development and progress.
Schedule
- Approximately 15 hours per week.
- Specific days and training times will be determined according to program scheduling and athlete demand.
- Additional opportunities may become available through evaluations, and group-training events.
Compensation
$40 per hour

Pay: $40.00 - $50.00 per hour
