SUMMARY
Under the general supervision of the Public Works Supervisor, performs a variety of maintenance duties including, but not limited to, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and preventive maintenance.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Performs routine plumbing repairs, including faucet repair, toilet maintenance, drain cleaning, and minor leak repair.

Maintains HVAC systems, including replacing filters, maintaining condensate drains, and cleaning condensers.

Performs electrical repairs and maintenance, including replacement of receptacles, switches, fixtures, bulbs, and ballasts, as well as basic troubleshooting.

Performs touch-up painting and minor drywall repair as needed.

Assembles, installs, moves, and repairs furniture, window treatments, and other furnishings as needed.

Coordinates with contractors for building maintenance needs.

Conducts monthly generator checks and coordinates with contractors for required preventive maintenance.

Monitors and maintains fire extinguishers, smoke alarms, and exit lights in accordance with applicable requirements.

Maintains facility structures, including windows, doors, roof, walls, and foundation.

Performs weekly room setup and breakdown for Community Center events.

Sets up seasonal decorations in City offices as needed.

Assists with special events as needed.

Procures supplies for City departments as needed.

Performs custodial duties and assists the custodian as needed.

Maintains accurate records and maintenance logs in both written and electronic formats.

Performs all other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
-
Knowledge of plumbing systems, electrical systems, and HVAC maintenance and diagnostics.

Ability to operate various hand tools, power tools, diagnostic devices, and related equipment.

Effective oral and written communication.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
-
High School Diploma or GED.

Valid Texas Class C Driver’s License required.
Or any combination of related education and experience that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:

Must be able to wear City-approved Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Ability to lift or move objects up to 80 pounds.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and sit; handle, grasp, feel, and reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl; and occasionally climb or balance. The employee is also exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions; high, precarious places; confined spaces; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. In all cases, appropriate procedures and PPE will be utilized.
