Foothills Historic specializes in rehabilitating historic aged properties (circa 1700's to mid 1950's) both commercial and residential. As a Historic Preservation Craftsman you will have the opportunity to use your experience and skills to work on the many facets of rehabilitating historic properties. Everyday is different and you will spend time in our shop fabricating custom moldings and trims, building custom wood windows, and restoring historic windows, doors and other artifacts. You will also spend time in the field helping to restore historic properties which could include demo work, framing, siding, carpentry, installation of trim, doors and windows, plaster repair, minor electrical/plumbing repairs and much more. We train our team in the methods to rehabilitate and maintain historic properties.
- Restore/replicate historic wood and metal windows.
- Restore/replicate historic doors
- Replicate historic moldings and trim
- Build cabinetry, wainscoting and special trim
- Full property rehabilitation to include siding, framing, flooring, windows, doors, cabinetry, porches, etc.
Skills
- Our craftsmen need to have strong critical thinking skills and need to work with little supervision.
- Previous experience in framing and/or finish carpentry
- Blueprint Interpretation: Read, interpret, and work from architectural sketches, shop drawings, and blueprints to meet project requirements.
- Material Preparation: Select, measure, cut, and shape wood, veneers, laminates, and composite materials to exact specifications.
- Fabrication: Assemble component parts using woodworking machinery (table saws, shapers, planers), pneumatic nailers, clamps, and adhesives.
- Finishing: Sand, stain, seal, and polish finished products to achieve a flawless, client-ready appearance.
- Tool & Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on shop machinery, ensure cutting blades are sharp, and calibrate tools to maintain high-precision work.
- Inventory Management: Track hardware, lumber, and finishing supplies; assist in restocking and organizing materials.
- Safety & Cleanliness: Strictly adhere to OSHA safety standards and maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free shop environment at all times
- Willingness to work on a broad spectrum of items in the rehabilitation scope.

- Continuous learner open to developing new skills necessary to preserving historic properties.
- Ability to read a tape measure and use basic tools (hammers, drills, screw drivers, etc.).
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a formal carpentry apprenticeship, technical/vocational school program, or journeyman credentials is highly preferred.
- Experience: 3+ years of professional woodworking, cabinetry, or finish carpentry experience preferred.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in using hand, pneumatic, and heavy power-driven woodworking equipment. Strong applied math skills for complex measurements and geometry.
- Physical Demands: Ability to stand for prolonged periods, frequently bend/kneel, and safely lift and transport materials weighing up to \(50\text{ lbs}\).
- Attention to Detail: A discerning eye for wood grain, color matching, finish quality, and tight joints.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $30.00 per hour
