General Description:
The House Monitor assists residents with daily tasks and maintains the physical aspects of our 24-hour domestic violence emergency shelter.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
- Foster a safe, calm, and therapeutic environment for residents
- Answer and document hotline calls
- Conduct ground checks
- Ensure resident guidelines are followed
- Notify management of any maintenance needs
- Notify management In the event of an emergency
- Attend meetings and trainings as needed
- Document inventory and identify food pantry needs
- Respond to emergency situations as needed
- Ensure billing forms are complete and signed
- Transport residents in agency vehicle to appointments
- Read/document daily updates in shelter communication book
- Complete mandated reports including incident reports, accident reports, and grievances
- Work collaboratively with clients to ensure household tasks and chores are completed
- Ensure shared workspaces and offices are neat and clean
- Other tasks as assigned
Successful candidates should have the availability to work weekend hours. Choose overnight shifts: 12:00 AM - 8:00 AM, 8am to 4pm or 4pm to 12am). Coverage for Monday 4pm to 12 am needed. Per diem shifts for those who can cover on short notice also available.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required
- Valid NYS Driver’s License
- Knowledge of the dynamics of domestic violence is preferred
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
