Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Surgical Technologist, a vital member of the operating room that ensures surgical procedures are performed efficiently, safely, and with the highest standards of patient care. In this role, you will assist surgeons and nursing staff by preparing operating rooms, sterilizing medical equipment, and handling surgical instruments with precision. Your expertise will contribute to successful surgeries across various specialties, including trauma, cardiovascular, neurosurgery, orthopedics, pediatrics, and more. Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing and arranging surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment according to aseptic techniques.
- Assist during surgeries by passing instruments, suturing wounds, and managing surgical tools with accuracy and speed.
- Monitor vital signs and patient status throughout procedures to support anesthesiologists and surgeons in maintaining optimal patient stability.
- Maintain strict infection control protocols to prevent healthcare-associated infections through proper sterilization and handling of medical equipment.
- Support trauma care teams by assisting in emergency procedures within Level I or Level II trauma centers, including treatment of fractures and trauma-related injuries.
- Manage medical records related to surgical procedures using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems such as Epic or other hospital information systems.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in hospital medicine, critical care units (ICU), PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), and ambulatory surgery centers to ensure seamless patient care.
Requirements
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist from an accredited program; current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Proven experience assisting in various surgical settings including cardiovascular surgery assistance, neurosurgery assistance, orthopedic surgery, endoscopy procedures, and pediatric surgeries.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and surgical instrumentation.
- Hands-on experience with medical equipment operation and sterilization processes aligned with infection prevention standards.
- Ability to perform suturing techniques and treatment of fractures with precision under sterile conditions.
- Familiarity with hospital information systems such as EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Epic or similar platforms.
- Excellent analysis skills for assessing patient needs during acute care situations across emergency medicine environments.
- Prior experience working in hospital environments such as Level I Trauma Centers or ambulatory surgery centers is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated commitment to healthcare infection prevention and control practices along with aseptic technique adherence.
