The Varsity Head Baseball Coach is responsible for the overall administration, management, and strategic direction of the entire baseball program. This role focuses on high-level competitive play, program culture, and student-athlete recruitment and placement.

Program Leadership: Establish the "brand" and philosophy of the baseball program. Hire, supervise, and mentor all assistant and sub-varsity coaches.

Varsity Game & Practice Management: Design and oversee all varsity-level practice sessions and manage all in-game strategic decisions.

Budget & Fundraising: Oversee the program budget, coordinate fundraising efforts, and manage equipment procurement.

College Recruiting: Assist student-athletes in the college recruitment process, including maintaining relationships with college scouts.

Public Relations: Serve as the primary spokesperson for the program to parents, media, and school administration.
Responsibilities:

Implement and enforce all Athletic Policies approved by the Newton-Conover City Schools Board of Education.

Adhere to and interpret school system, state, and conference regulations consistently.

Follow the proper administrative line of command for all requests and grievances.
-
Establish and teach the fundamental philosophy, skills, and techniques of baseball.

Organize conferences, clinics, and staff meetings to ensure staff awareness of the program.

Encourage professional growth and clinic attendance among staff.

Supervise and evaluate assistant coaches.

Maintain discipline, address grievances, and work to increase team morale and cooperation.

Assist the Athletic Director with scheduling, transportation, and tournament requirements.

Prepare for scheduled sports events or practices and coordinate with maintenance and school employees.

Ensure compliance with state and system requirements concerning physical examinations, parental consent, and eligibility.

Safeguard and maintain assigned equipment and facilities.

Provide training rules and regulations to all athletes.

Monitor student-athletes’ academic performance and conduct.

Attend all practices and games, providing guidance and support.
-
Implement programs and policies for injuries, medical attention, and emergencies.

Submit paperwork for disabling athletic injuries within 24 hours.

Direct student managers, assistants, and statisticians.

Enforce discipline and communicate with parents when necessary.

Assist athletes with college or advanced educational selection.

Participate in budgeting and recommend equipment specifications.

Account for all equipment and fees for lost or unreturned items.

Organize pre-season meetings with parents, coaches, players, and guests.

Promote the baseball program within the school and the community.

Maintain good public relations with news media, Booster Club, parents, officials, volunteers, and fans.

Present information to the media concerning schedules, tournaments, and results.

Perform other duties as assigned by the school Principal in accordance with Newton-Conover City Board of Education Policy and North Carolina Administrative Code and Statutes.

Significant experience coaching at the high school varsity or collegiate level.

Proven track record of program building and leadership.

Advanced knowledge of baseball mechanics, analytics, and strategy.
Minimum Training and Experience:

Must meet the requirements established by the North Carolina High School Athletic Association, North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, Newton-Conover City School Board of Education, and school administration.

A teacher license and employment as a teacher by the Newton-Conover City School Board of Education are strongly preferred.

Previous successful coaching experience in baseball is required.
