Metal Test Technician
Provide analytical support and perform high quality metallurgical testing to meet customer expectations in a timely and cost-effective manner. This position entails sample preparation (cutting, grinding, mounting and polishing), chemical handling (small quantities), operation of equipment (semi-automatic mounting and polishing machines, abrasive cut off saw, mechanical saws, belt sander, rotary wet grinder, hardness testers and microscopes) and generation of test results. Employee must perform all work safely and in accordance with company policies, specifications and procedures. Employee is responsible for performing and documenting testing in an accurate and timely manner.
Responsibilites
Section, mount, polish and etch samples. Use appropriate cutting devices in the laboratory including large cut-off saws, band saws, jewelers’ saws and sectioning saws. Label and maintain samples from receipt of job through archiving.
Conduct a broad range of metallurgical tests, including but not limited to metallography, Rockwell/Brinell hardness, microhardness testing, microstructural examination, macro-etching examination, grain size evaluation, inclusion rating and other tests as directed and trained.
Routinely accomplish tasks while optimizing machine use, achieving minimal idle time, and prioritizing tasks that are the first step in the process. Support efficient workflow of samples through the lab.
Complete work assignments by scheduled due dates and keep supervisor and other members of management informed of issues that may affect workflow. Interface with coworkers on a regular basis to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction and that testing quality is maintained. Continue on to the next task upon completion of current task with no specific direction.
Maintain work area conditions and appearance. Perform regular maintenance on equipment as required, assist in troubleshooting and repairs.
Must be okay with loud noises.
Drug Test and Background test required. NO THC allowed.
Due to the requirements with the government, it is required to be a US Citizen for this position.

8am- 3:30pm
