The best leadership roles don't begin with a rescue mission.
No inherited chaos.
No revolving-door client base.
No team that's already halfway out the door.
Just a successful audit practice that's ready for its next phase of leadership.
That's the opportunity here.
For more than 50 years, this respected CPA firm has built lasting client relationships, invested in its people and developed an audit practice that's both established and growing.
Now, as an experienced Audit Senior Manager begins to reduce their workload over time, the Partners are looking for an Audit Director who can help lead what's already working—and help shape what comes next.
Why experienced Audit leaders are interested in this opportunity
- Established CPA firm with more than 50 years of history
- Strong, loyal audit client base
- Hybrid working after onboarding
- Modern technology and AI-driven audit tools
- Direct access to the Managing Partner and firm leadership
- Stable team with long-term career opportunities
- Consistent workflow throughout the year rather than extreme seasonal peaks
The role
This is a genuine leadership opportunity within a well-established audit practice.
You'll work alongside an experienced Audit Senior Manager during a planned transition, giving you the time to build relationships, understand the client portfolio and become a trusted leader without being thrown into the deep end.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading audit engagements from planning through completion
- Building long-term relationships with key clients
- Supporting and developing the audit team
- Providing technical guidance across complex engagements
- Working with the Partners on the continued growth of the practice
- Helping shape the future direction of the audit department
This isn't about replacing someone overnight.
It's about ensuring the next generation of leadership is in place before it's needed.
The clients
The audit portfolio includes a broad range of engagements, including:
- Commercial businesses
- Employee benefit plans
- Industry-specific audits
- Other assurance engagements
One of the biggest advantages of the practice is the consistency of the work.
Rather than experiencing dramatic highs and lows throughout the year, the firm has developed a balanced client portfolio that creates a steadier, more sustainable workload.
The culture
With around 20 professionals, the firm occupies a space that's increasingly difficult to find.
Large enough to offer strong resources, modern systems and interesting clients.
Small enough that every person has a voice.
The Managing Partner remains actively involved in the business, decisions are made quickly and ideas don't disappear into layers of management.
Once you've established yourself, you'll have significant flexibility in how you manage your schedule and where you work.
The environment is built on trust, accountability and professional autonomy—not presenteeism.
Technology
The firm continues to invest in modern audit technology, including:
- Thomson Reuters Practice Management
- Engagement Manager
- AI-driven research and productivity tools
The goal is simple: spend less time fighting systems and more time delivering value to clients.
Who this role suits
You'll bring around 10 years or more of public accounting audit experience and be confident managing engagements from planning through completion.
CPA qualification is preferred.
You'll enjoy working directly with clients, developing talented auditors and contributing to the long-term success of the practice.
Most importantly, you're looking for a firm where leadership means influence—not politics.
The honest bit
Some Audit Director roles are about rebuilding.
This one is about building on something that's already respected.
The foundations are in place.
The clients are loyal.
The team is established.
Now the firm is looking for the person who'll help lead the next chapter.
If you'd like to explore what that could look like, let's have a confidential conversation.
