Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing and arranging dental instruments and equipment according to infection prevention management protocols.
- Assist dentists during various procedures including restorations, extractions, oral surgery, prosthodontics, and endodontics with precision and care.
- Take high-quality dental x-rays and utilize medical imaging technology such as 3D scanners to aid diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) system (Dentrix Ascend) ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Provide excellent patient care by explaining procedures, managing patient anxiety, and taking vital signs to monitor health status prior to treatments.
- Maintain clinical cleanliness by adhering to dental sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques in accordance with infection control policies.
- Support the dental reception area by managing patient management software, scheduling appointments, and handling medical/dental documentation with professionalism.
Skills
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry practices.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to general dentistry, oral surgery, prosthodontics, and endodontics.
- Experience operating dental equipment such as X-ray machines, intraoral cameras, 3D scanners, and dental sterilization devices.
- Expertise in infection prevention management and healthcare infection control practices to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Ability to perform dental instrument processing efficiently while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies.
- Excellent communication skills for patient management, explaining procedures clearly while demonstrating compassion and professionalism.
- Maintains a professional, neat, and well-groomed appearance at all times.
