Railway Products Group, Inc. (RPG) has been manufacturing quality parts for the railroad and transit industry for over 35 years. We are a design-engineer-build company. We fabricate parts and assemblies in our 50,000 sq.ft. factory In Baltimore, Maryland.
In support of our company’s growth and care for 40+ employees, RPG is hiring a Senior Accountant. A Senior Accountant oversees the full accounting cycle, including month end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, audits, and compliance, while providing technical guidance and mentoring junior staff.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Checking invoice compliance, price, quality, location, account coding and appropriate authorization.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, vendor payments, and campaign-related expenditures.
- Manage billing and invoicing for client retainers, campaign milestones, and vendor/vendor-influencer payments.
- Prepare monthly financial statements, cash-flow summaries, and reconciliations to support agency operations.
- Effectively maintain all accounts within the general ledger: revenue, cost of goods, operating expenses, and balance sheet accounts.
- Reconcile bank and corporate credit card accounts.
- Prepare and update balance sheet supporting schedules.
- Assist with the monthly preparation of GAAP financial statements.
- Streamline processes for greater accuracy, financial control, and efficiency.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation where possible.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, or Finance.
- Extensive knowledge of and working experience with Sage 100 (preferred but not required).
- Experience managing and working with a small, close-knit team.
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- A high level of integrity and dependability, with a strong sense of urgency.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, and to multi-task as necessary.
- 10+ years of general accounting setting.
Pay: From $95,000.00 per year
