Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Personal Care Assistant to provide exceptional support and care to individuals in various settings, including home health, assisted living, and long-term care facilities. Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting to promote independence and comfort
- Monitor patients’ health by observing vital signs, medication adherence, and overall well-being; report changes promptly to healthcare professionals
- Support clients with mobility using proper patient transfer methods and equipment like Hoyer lifts or manual handling techniques
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary needs and assist with meal consumption when necessary
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties and ensuring infection control protocols are followed
- Administer medications accurately following care plans while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy and confidentiality
- Provide emotional support through compassionate communication, active listening, and engaging in social activities to promote mental well-being
- Assist with transportation for medical appointments or community outings using appropriate personal transportation methods
- Document care activities meticulously in compliance with healthcare standards and facility policies
Experience
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred
- Demonstrated ability in patient observation, monitoring vital signs, medication administration, and implementing care plans
- Hands-on experience with specialized care such as Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, memory care or neurodevelopmental disorders support
- Knowledge of manual handling techniques including patient transfers using Hoyer lifts or other equipment
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations ensuring confidentiality of patient information
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental delays such as autism or intellectual disabilities support is advantageous
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications in hospice care or geriatrics are a plus
- Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and collaboration with healthcare teams
