Duties
- Safely operate the mini bus to transport children to various destinations, including school, field trips, and community events
- Conduct thorough pre-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure mechanical safety and cleanliness
- Follow all traffic laws and safety regulations, including those specific to school bus and paratransit driving
- Assist children in boarding and exiting the vehicle, providing support as needed for behavior management and comfort
- Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and children in English or bilingual formats to ensure smooth coordination
- Maintain accurate logs of trips, mileage, and vehicle maintenance needs
- Ensure the vehicle is properly maintained by reporting any mechanical issues promptly
Skills
- Proven experience in bus driving, commercial driving, or school bus driving with a clean driving record
- Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are a plus for engaging diverse communities
- Knowledge of paratransit services and behavior management techniques for working with children
- Mechanical knowledge to perform basic vehicle inspections and troubleshooting
- Excellent customer service skills to create a welcoming environment for children and parents
