JOB DUTIES:
1. Basic knowledge of physical medicine, therapy modalities, anatomy and physiology.
2. Basic knowledge of therapy machine operation, maintenance and repairs of same.
3. Provides treatment and rehabilitative services to patients who have experienced injury or disability disease. Provides residents with exercises.
4. Responsible for providing treatment as directed by the staff Occupational Therapist. Adheres to standards of physical medicine practice.
5. Ability to observe and evaluate treatment effect, discusses observations with staff and Occupational Therapist.
6. Responsible for the monitoring and documentation of resident treatment and response.
7. Assists with formulation of a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs and assesses effectiveness of learning; family is included in teaching as appropriate; staff and Occupational Therapist are apprised of conclusions.
8. Meets current documentation standards and policies.
9. Adheres to facility’s Policy and Procedure.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. CPR Certification (required).
2. Licensed Certified Occupation Therapy Assistant (required).
3. 1-2 years experience in long term care preferred.
4. Good physical and mental health.
5. Must be able to perform any physical requirement of the position which includes lifting dead weight or unassisted weight of 50 pounds.
6. Is capable of following oral and written instructions.
7. Have training, knowledge and experience which allows for general supervision of responsibilities.
REPORTING: The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant reports to the supervising Occupational
Therapist and the Director of Rehabilitation.
