To provide skilled work in the installation, repair, operation, and maintenance of electronic equipment and systems, primarily on land-based oilfield locations.
Responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of a wide variety of electronic equipment and systems.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to: Installs or assists in installation of cables, LTE radios, StarLink packages, VSAT systems, Phone systems, CCTV and other equipment. Repairs and maintains a variety of electronic equipment such as cameras, radios, PA equipment, and other electronic equipment utilized for communications purposes. Maintains shop and work area, fill out required paper work and forms.
DUTIES
The supervisor assigns and reviews completed work. Technical manuals and supervisory assistance is normally available for assistance and guidance in performance of duties. Trouble-shoots cable malfunctions, diagnoses problems and performs maintenance on Two-Way Radio Systems, CCTV systems, PA systems, computers, LTE radios, StarLink systems and other Communication Systems Makes recommendations to replace equipment if expected cost to repair exceeds possible replacement cost. Minor installation decisions may be made if incumbent determines more efficient service could be provided. Maintains certain job worksheets detailing nature of assignment, parts utilized, time expended and type of work performed. May collect data for reports.
SUPERVISION
- Reports to local Communications Manager.
- Must be able to make decisions and be self-motivated, to perform job duties in a proficient manner.
EDUCATION
High school graduation. Completion of approved training courses in electronics preferred.
EXPERIENCE
One year of experience preferred, but not necessary, pertaining to the installation, maintenance, repair and operation of various types of electronic equipment.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Some physical effort is required in that incumbent is required to move or lift cables, terminals or tool boxes. Must work occasionally in awkward positions such as bending, stooping, climbing ladders and towers and crawling in attics and basements. Hazards are present in electrical shocks and minor cuts and bruises. Fumes, dust and noises are present.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
In exercising these functions the incumbent should be able to exert up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
OTHER
Physical strength sufficient to move and handle electronic equipment. Eyesight sufficiently strong to permit extended close work and normal color perception.
