Job Overview
The IT Desktop Support Technician provides technical support to end users by installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing desktop computers, laptops, mobile devices, printers, and related hardware and software. This role ensures employees have reliable technology and excellent customer support while maintaining security and compliance with company IT standards.
Key Responsibilities
· Provide first- and second-level technical support for hardware, software, and network-related issues.
· Install, configure, and maintain desktop computers, laptops, monitors, printers, mobile devices, and peripherals.
· Diagnose and resolve operating system, application, and connectivity issues.
· Set up new user accounts, workstations, and equipment for new hires.
· Configure and support Microsoft Windows, Microsoft 365, and common business applications.
· Manage user accounts, passwords, and permissions using Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD).
· Perform software installations, updates, and system patches.
· Document incidents, service requests, and resolutions using an IT ticketing system.
· Escalate complex technical issues to senior IT staff when necessary.
· Maintain inventory of IT assets, including hardware and software licenses.
· Assist with conference room technology, audio/video equipment, and remote user support.
· Follow IT security policies and assist with endpoint protection and compliance initiatives.
· Participate in after-hours or on-call support as required.
Required Qualifications
· Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
· 2–5 years of experience in desktop support, help desk, or technical support.
· Experience supporting Windows 10/11, Microsoft 365, and Active Directory.
· Knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and Wi-Fi.
· Experience with ticketing systems such as ServiceNow, Jira, or Zendesk.
· Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent customer service and communication skills.
· Ability to prioritize multiple support requests in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
· CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft certifications.
· Experience with Microsoft Intune, SCCM/MECM, or endpoint management tools.
· Knowledge of PowerShell scripting.
· Experience supporting Apple macOS and mobile devices (iOS/Android).
· Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices and endpoint security tools.
