HOSPITALITY STEWARD

OVERVIEW
CUMC’s Hospitality Steward's primary responsibility is to prepare the campus for Sunday activities, including preparing spaces for congregation members to arrive, working with rotating volunteers to set up fellowship time, and cleaning up and closing the church. In addition to Sundays, the Steward will also host special events on campus. Therefore, they will be trained on basic mic and audio setup, and will be responsible for setting up, minor audio tasks, breakdown, and locking up for church rentals and special events.

- Physical requirements include lifting and carrying tables, chairs, and nametag boards.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Please review Hospitality Steward: List of Responsibilities (see below).
- Provide support for on-campus rentals and special events.
- Assist with slides and sound in worship on occasional Sundays when other staff are out.
- Coordinate a substitute to fill in when you are unavailable for a Sunday.
- Other tasks as assigned by the pastors, the Facilities Manager, or the SPRC.
HOURS OF WORK
Base hours are 4 ½ per week, with additional hours as needed for rentals/special events. Any increase in these base hours must be approved in advance by the Pastor(s) who supervise the Hospitality Steward.
Supervision
- Reports to the Facilities Manager, Lead Pastor(s), and the Staff-Parish Relations Committee (SPRC).
- Annual performance evaluations by the Lead Pastor(s) and SPRC in accordance with the Personnel Policy.
Compensation and Benefits
- Hourly compensation is to be negotiated at the time of hire, with annual reviews.
- Employees who work less than 20 hours per week are not entitled to a church-paid pension. Only full-time regular employees are entitled to health and dental benefits.
- Vacation and sick leave for part-time employees are prorated in accordance with state and federal law.
- Employees awarded their annual vacation on a particular date must use their vacation within 12 months of the date it is awarded, or such vacation is forfeited.
- Overtime hours must be approved in advance by the Lead Pastor(s).

HOSPITALITY STEWARD
LIST OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Arrive at 8:00am
- Unlock all doors in the Sanctuary/Narthex, and other buildings that will be used for the day, including: Round Building, Choir Room, and Bell Room.
- Check the temperature in the sanctuary, narthex, and other rooms that will be used to ensure the HVAC is working properly and the temperature is comfortable.
- Examine the campus to identify any issues that might affect the use of spaces.
- Put the three name tag boards outside on the wall near the main entrance.
- Place two water glasses on the chancel in the pastor’s seating area.
- Review the bulletin for any special events and check in with pastors for any questions.
Fellowship Time
- In preparation for fellowship time, set up the tables outside, along with tablecloths and a garbage can.
- Make two pots of coffee: one caffeinated, one decaf; two pitchers of lemonade; and prepare hot water for tea.
- Move the drinks outside to the patio, along with sugar, creamer, etc., near the end of worship.
Tech and Audio Assisting
- Occasionally assist with tech and audio needs in worship when staff are sick/unavailable.
Cleaning and Closing Up
- After fellowship time, clean up all spaces and any items used, from the outside patio area and kitchen.
- Put away the name tag boards.
- Turn off all lights and HVAC, and lock the doors in all spaces used on campus.
- Help set up for any other Sunday events if assigned by the Facilities Manager and/or Pastor(s),
Pay: $16.90 - $20.00 per hour
