Industrial Maintenance Electrician / Controls Technician
Position Summary
Wico Metal Products is seeking a motivated and skilled Industrial Maintenance Electrician / Controls Technician to support the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and continuous improvement of manufacturing equipment and automation systems. This position plays a critical role in maintaining electrical and control systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient production operations.
The ideal candidate will possess strong electrical troubleshooting skills, experience supporting PLC-controlled equipment, and a working knowledge of industrial automation systems within a manufacturing environment. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a technician looking to further develop controls and automation expertise while working alongside experienced maintenance and engineering professionals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair industrial electrical systems, machinery, and production equipment.
- Support and troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment, primarily Allen-Bradley and Siemens platforms.
- Diagnose and repair motor controls, VFDs, sensors, safety circuits, and basic servo-driven systems.
- Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on electrical and automation equipment.
- Assist in troubleshooting and maintaining robotic systems, including safety devices and communication networks.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic diagrams, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Support stamping presses, transfer systems, feeders, conveyors, weld cells, and automated production equipment.
- Install, replace, and modify electrical components, sensors, and control devices as required.
- Assist with equipment startups, control system upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Troubleshoot operator interfaces (HMIs) and basic control system communication issues.
- Ensure compliance with all company safety standards, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Work closely with Maintenance, Engineering, Tool Room, and Production personnel to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability.
- Accurately document maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment modifications.
Qualifications
Required
- Journeyman Electrician Card, Electrical Certification, Associate Degree in Electrical/Automation Technology, or equivalent industrial maintenance experience.
- Minimum 3-5 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment.
- Working knowledge of:
- Motor controls
- Electrical distribution systems
- Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
- Industrial sensors and safety devices
- Pneumatic and hydraulic systems
- Basic servo and motion control systems
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Proficiency using electrical testing equipment, including multimeters and diagnostic tools.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred
- Experience in automotive stamping, metal forming, or high-volume manufacturing environments.
- Exposure to Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLC programming software.
- Experience with Fanuc, ABB, KUKA, or similar industrial robotics.
- Familiarity with Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet, Profinet, or other industrial communication networks.
- Experience supporting automated material handling systems and production equipment.
- Understanding of preventative and predictive maintenance methodologies.
- Exposure to HMI troubleshooting and basic modifications.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, moving machinery, and varying temperatures.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, and emergency call-ins as required.

Schedule
- Full-Time
- Ideal hours are 7am-4/4:30pm but we are flexible to any 45-50 hour per week schedule.
- Overtime and weekend support as required

Pay: $85,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
