American Traveler is hiring a Medical Surgical RN for a night shift position requiring a Michigan RN license and NIHSS certification.
-
Work on a 40-bed Medical Surgical unit specializing in neurological disorders such as Stroke, Epilepsy, Multiple Sclerosis, and other inflammatory disorders of the brain and spinal cord
-
Care for a large spinal surgery population including post-operative neuro-surgery, ortho-surgery, Laminectomy, and Spinal Fusion patients

Unit includes six step-down/telemetry beds and six bariatric beds
-
Includes a four-bed Neuro Monitoring Unit admitting seizure patients starting at age 5
-
Night shift schedule (3x12 hours), 19:00-7:30
-
36 or 48 hour work weeks available
-
Night shift ratios of 1:5-6 with no LPNs on nights
-
Charge nurse takes patients when unit is understaffed
-
Required to work every other weekend
-
Holiday coverage required
-
May float to other Med/Surg units, ICU units, and ED waiting rooms
-
Travelers are first to float
-
Uses EPIC and Pyxis
-
Active Michigan RN license required
-
BLS (AHA) certification required
-
NIHSS certification required, must be obtained prior to start if pending

1-2 years of Med/Surg experience preferred
-
Previous charge nurse experience preferred

Proof of flu vaccination required for consideration, or exemption submitted within 48 hours of signing

Supervisor-level references required
-
No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment
-
RTO limited to no more than 10 days total during the assignment
-
Locals accepted at the same rate with no radius restrictions
-
Previous internal travelers may return after 6 months; previous permanent staff may return after 1 year

Annual and orientation modules are self-reported and completed during orientation
