Overview
We are looking for an IT Solutions Engineer who enjoys both technology and working with people. This role combines sales, customer relationship management, and hands-on IT support. You'll meet with local businesses to understand their technology needs, help introduce our managed IT services, and perform onsite technical work including network installations, structured cabling, workstation deployments, and ongoing IT support. Duties
- Design and develop robust IT infrastructure solutions utilizing virtualization technologies such as Hyper-V, ensuring optimal performance and scalability.
- Automate deployment, configuration, and management processes using Remote Monitoring and Management systems.
- Troubleshoot complex system issues across distributed systems, including Windows, Ubiquiti, and others.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement cloud-based solutions on Azure platforms, integrating APIs for seamless data exchange.
- Manage and optimize virtualization environments by configuring VPNs, operating systems, and network security protocols to maintain high availability.
- Support system design efforts involving SQL databases like Oracle and SQL Server; develop scripts for database management and automation tasks.
- Identify and develop relationships with prospective business clients throughout the local service area.
- Conduct introductory meetings and technology consultations to understand each client's business goals and IT challenges.
- Perform onsite technology assessments to identify opportunities for improved security, reliability, and efficiency.
- Recommend managed IT services, cybersecurity solutions, cloud services, backup solutions, VoIP systems, and network infrastructure upgrades based on client needs.
- Explain technical concepts in clear, non-technical language to business owners and decision-makers.
- Follow up with prospective clients to answer questions and guide them through the decision-making process.
- Build long-term relationships that result in recurring managed service agreements and additional project opportunities.
- Maintain accurate records of sales activities, client communications, and opportunities within the company's CRM system.
- Assist with marketing initiatives, including email campaigns, social media, educational seminars, webinars, and community outreach.
- Stay informed about current cybersecurity threats, emerging technologies, and industry best practices to provide valuable guidance to clients.
Experience
- Proven experience working with Hyper-V virtualization platforms and managing complex virtualized environments.
- Hands-on experience with distributed systems architecture across cloud services such as Microsoft Azure.
- Experience supporting Microsoft 365, including Outlook, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and user account management.
- Solid understanding of operating systems including Windows, Linux, and UNIX; capable of troubleshooting OS-level issues effectively.
- Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Windows desktop and server operating systems.
- Experience deploying and configuring desktop computers, laptops, printers, and other business technology.
- Familiarity with IT infrastructure components like VPNs, APIs, SQL Server, and computer management tools.
- Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting business networks, including routers, switches, wireless access points, and firewalls.
- Experience troubleshooting wired and wireless network connectivity issues.
- Experience running, terminating, labeling, and testing Cat5e, Cat6, and fiber optic network cabling.
- Experience installing network racks, patch panels, UPS systems, and structured cabling components.
- Knowledge of system design principles coupled with practical experience in engineering troubleshooting support for diverse IT environments.
- Strong customer service and communication skills with both technical and non-technical users.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and the ability to travel to client locations throughout the local area.
