"**Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor & Delivery (L&D)**
**Job Summary:**
The Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor & Delivery provides specialized, patient-centered care to mothers and newborns throughout labor, delivery, recovery, and the immediate postpartum period. The RN assesses patient conditions, monitors fetal and maternal well-being, assists with deliveries, administers medications, and collaborates with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure safe, high-quality maternal and newborn care.
**Requirements:**
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice or Compact RN License.
- Current BLS certification required.
- ACLS, NRP, and Fetal Monitoring certifications preferred or required per facility policy.
- Recent Labor & Delivery, Women's Health, or Obstetrics nursing experience preferred.
**Responsibilities:**
- Assess, monitor, and provide nursing care to antepartum, laboring, postpartum, and newborn patients.
- Monitor fetal heart rate patterns, uterine activity, and maternal status throughout labor and delivery.
- Assist physicians during vaginal and cesarean deliveries.
- Administer medications, IV therapy, blood products, and other prescribed treatments.
- Provide newborn care, stabilization, and patient/family education.
- Recognize and respond appropriately to obstetric and neonatal emergencies.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and electronic medical records.
- Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to coordinate patient care.
- Follow infection prevention, patient safety, HIPAA, and regulatory standards.
