Essential Job FunctionsResponsibilities:

Conduct field investigations and analyze failures involving all types of civil-site built environments and infrastructure for large scale land developments, master planned communities, mixed used projects, commercial and industrial projects, roadway and utility, and streetscape enhancements
-
Evaluate design/construction-related deficiencies associated with grading and drainage, stormwater management and conveyance, underground utility systems and installation, erosion control, concrete flatwork, asphalt pavements, and hardscape systems
-
May investigate matters involving:
-
design of site-visibility at intersections, vehicular use areas, parking lots, pedestrian and vehicular ingress/egress ways
-
the applicability of MUTCD and ADA standards
-
preparation, permitting, and construction implementation of civil/site construction plans related to DOT, water management districts, and various municipalities
-
municipal zoning and variance hearings
-
code, regulations, and standards interpretation and application.
-
Stormwater management quantity and quality design, above and below ground
-
Floodplain delineation
-
Stormwater collection and conveyance systems
-
Sediment and erosion control design and inspections
-
Hydrology and hydraulics design
-
Site grading design
-
Development processes during design and construction
-
Close out procedures of land development projects
-
Failure modes of infrastructure systems
-
Conduct unbiased investigations for various types of clients
-
Responsible for retention and development of client relations
-
Prepare oral and written reports in layman's terms that document causes of failure, extent of loss, and recommended remediation
-
Deliver professional presentations, develop client relationships and promote self to client groups
-
Ability to support conclusions by appropriate expert testimony in legal proceedings
-
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
-
Ability to accept and integrate constructive feedback into job performance

Regular and predictable presence at work

Other related duties as assigned
Position Requirements:
-
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering required
-
Minimum of five (5) years of civil/site development experience
-
P. E. (Professional Engineer) registration required through testing
-
Must possess strong writing skills
-
Public speaking experience a plus
-
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills

Physical Requirements:

Ability to travel on a variable schedule, including 50% of the time locally and 20% of the time overnight

Ability to lift 50 lbs.

Ability to climb ladders and inspect roofs

Ability to carry equipment to and from job sites

Ability to work at various heights on structures
-
Ability to maneuver in and around buildings and in confined spaces
-
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing

Ability to effectively communicate with clients and colleagues

Ability to drive in all conditions
- Ability to fly on airplanes

Ability to visually inspect job sites and relevant artifacts

Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required by the work site

Ability to learn a new industry and obtain required certifications
