Independent Sales Contractor – Maritime & Industrial Infrastructure
TrueNorth Projects
TrueNorth Projects is seeking an experienced independent sales contractor to develop opportunities and generate sales within the commercial maritime, industrial, transportation, infrastructure, and government markets.
The contractor will identify prospective customers, build relationships with decision-makers, develop new markets, and advance qualified opportunities through contract execution and collection.
TrueNorth’s current sales priorities include unique marine and industrial assets with potential applications in ports, terminals, shipyards, ferry systems, marine construction, offshore operations, coastal development, and other infrastructure projects. This includes large floating concrete structures that may be converted for use as commercial docks, wharves, work platforms, terminals, breakwaters, ferry landings, artificial reefs, or other engineered marine facilities.
This is a sales position—not an engineering or project-management engagement. Technical resources will be made available when needed to support qualified sales opportunities.
Contractor Compensation
- Monthly retainer of $7,500–$9,000, depending on experience and existing industry relationships
- Uncapped commission on completed sales
- Commission earned and payable based on customer payments actually received by TrueNorth Projects
- Target total annual compensation of approximately $130,000–$175,000, depending on sales performance
- Preapproved, project-specific travel expenses reimbursed
- No employee benefits, paid leave, retirement benefits, or payroll-tax withholding
- Contractor responsible for applicable taxes, insurance, licenses, equipment, and ordinary business expenses
Final commission percentages, protected accounts, payment timing, treatment of transaction costs, and post-termination commissions will be defined in the independent contractor agreement.
Scope of Services
The contractor will:
- Identify prospective customers and commercially viable markets for TrueNorth’s assets, capabilities, and project opportunities
- Develop and execute an independent sales strategy
- Generate new business through direct outreach, referrals, professional networks, industry associations, conferences, trade events, and site visits
- Establish relationships with ports, terminal operators, shipyards, marine contractors, engineering firms, government agencies, ferry operators, offshore developers, industrial companies, and infrastructure owners
- Identify customer needs and connect them with appropriate TrueNorth assets or solutions
- Qualify prospects based on need, financial capacity, decision-making authority, location, procurement process, and purchase schedule
- Arrange customer presentations, asset inspections, technical discussions, and meetings
- Maintain consistent follow-up throughout potentially lengthy sales cycles
- Coordinate with TrueNorth management and technical resources to obtain accurate pricing, specifications, transportation information, and commercial terms
- Prepare sales proposals and assist with pricing discussions and contract negotiations
- Move qualified opportunities toward executed agreements and completed transactions
- Maintain accurate records of prospects, communications, opportunities, forecasts, and next actions
- Use AI, online research, industry databases, CRM systems, and other digital tools to identify prospects and improve sales efficiency
- Provide agreed-upon sales pipeline and activity reports
- Represent TrueNorth accurately and professionally in all customer communications
Desired Qualifications
- At least five years of successful business-to-business sales experience
- Demonstrated ability to independently generate leads, create markets, and close business
- Experience selling industrial equipment, infrastructure services, marine assets, construction products, commercial vessels, heavy equipment, engineered systems, or other high-value products
- Established relationships in maritime, port, terminal, shipyard, marine-construction, offshore-energy, industrial, transportation, or government markets strongly preferred
- Experience managing long sales cycles involving multiple technical and organizational decision-makers
- Proven ability to negotiate and close substantial transactions
- Strong written, verbal, presentation, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to communicate credibly with executives, procurement personnel, engineers, contractors, regulators, and operations teams

Contractor Relationship
The selected individual or company will perform services as an independent contractor and not as an employee of TrueNorth Projects.
The contractor will control the manner, methods, location, and schedule used to perform the services, subject to agreed-upon deliverables, customer commitments, confidentiality requirements, and applicable laws. The contractor will generally provide their own office, computer, telephone, software, transportation, and ordinary business supplies.
The contractor will not have authority to enter into agreements, make warranties, establish final pricing, incur obligations, or legally bind TrueNorth Projects without prior written authorization.
The contractor may provide services to other clients, provided those services do not create a conflict of interest, involve misuse of TrueNorth’s confidential information, or interfere with agreed-upon responsibilities.

- Decision-maker meetings and presentations secured
- Quality and value of the active sales pipeline
- Development of new markets and applications
