What to Expect
In the interest of full transparency, here's what prospective staff should know before applying:
- You will be working within an inpatient behavioral health hospital setting, alongside nursing staff and behavioral health technicians.
- Sessions are conducted in a group format, with structured group sizes appropriate to the unit.
- Patient populations may include both lower- and higher-functioning individuals, and both adolescent, children, and adult units, depending on placement.
- Facilities maintain strict contraband and safety protocols (e.g., restricted art supplies/materials), which you will be trained on prior to starting.
- All new hires complete a shadowing period before working independently, so you can experience the environment firsthand and ask questions along the way.

Responsibilities
- Plan and lead therapeutic art sessions for patient groups
- Adapt activities to varying ages, abilities, and functioning levels
- Maintain a safe, structured environment in coordination with clinical staff
- Track and report on patient engagement and supply usage
- Complete required certification and ongoing training
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED — required
- Bachelor's degree — preferred (not required)
- Art Therapy Certification — required (reimbursed upon completion; candidates currently pursuing or willing to obtain certification are encouraged to apply)
- Comfort and adaptability working within a hospital/clinical environment
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Reliable availability for the required schedule: Tuesdays 5:30–8:30 PM and Sundays 2:30–5:45 PM
Pay: $21.82 - $26.28 per hour
