Job Summary:
The Production Baker at Proof Bakeshop will be responsible for preparing high-quality baked goods, including artisan breads, pastries, and desserts, ensuring each product meets our brand standards. This role involves managing the full baking process, working efficiently under tight deadlines, and maintaining a safe and sanitary workspace. The Baker will play an essential role in product innovation, customer satisfaction, and operational success by contributing to daily production goals and collaborating with other kitchen staff.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Product Preparation and Quality Control:
- Measure, mix, knead, shape, and bake a variety of bread, pastries, and other baked goods following standardized recipes and procedures.
- Monitor the baking process to ensure consistency in product quality.
- Set and maintain proper oven temperatures to avoid product defects and waste.
- Inventory and Production Management:
- Track ingredient stock levels, ensuring accurate rotation and usage to prevent spoilage.
- Assist in ordering supplies to maintain adequate inventory without excess waste.
- Adjust production schedules based on sales forecasts, catering needs, and customer demand.
- Safety and Food Handling Compliance:
- Follow all food safety standards and regulations to prevent contamination.
- Use protective equipment such as heat-resistant gloves and aprons when handling hot tools and ovens.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the bakery area throughout the shift.
- Collaboration and Innovation:
- Coordinate with chefs and other kitchen staff to integrate baked goods into the menu.
- Experiment with seasonal recipes and specialty products to align with Proof Bakeshop’s culinary vision.
- Engage with customers when needed, offering product information and handling special requests.
Skills and Competencies:
- Ability to work efficiently under time constraints, with early morning shifts and occasional weekends or holidays.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and meet daily production targets.
- Familiarity with baking techniques and equipment, including roasters, mixers, ovens, and cooling racks.
- Attention to detail to ensure precise measurements and consistency in product quality.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
Training and Experience:
- Preferred: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Required: At least 2 years of experience in a professional kitchen or bakery setting.
- Preferred: Formal culinary or baking training, or apprenticeship experience.
- On-the-job training will be provided for specialized menu items or procedures.
Work Environment:
- This role requires working in high-temperature environments due to the nature of ovens and baking.
- Physical stamina is required, including long shifts spent standing and handling heavy baking tools or equipment.
- Bakers must follow safety protocols to avoid burns, slips, or other potential injuries.

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
