About the Role
Our client, a leading organization in the built environment sector, is seeking an experienced Facility Condition Assessor to join their expanding team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a professional with a strong background in building systems, maintenance, and construction to work on high-profile projects across multiple industries.
A significant part of this role will be based in the Central & East states and will require frequent travel across IL, OH, PA, NY and potentially other U.S. states to conduct on-site inspections and assessments.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed on-site inspections of building structures, roofs, interiors, exteriors, and MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) systems.
- Assess facility conditions to determine asset life-cycle, code compliance, and maintenance requirements.
- Prepare professional facility condition assessment (FCA) reports, including clear narratives, photos, and cost estimates for repair and capital planning.
- Use industry-standard tools and software to document and analyze facility data.
- Provide recommendations to improve building performance, reduce costs, and optimize asset management strategies.
- Work closely with engineering, maintenance, and capital planning teams to prioritize improvements.
- Travel regularly to sites (up to 50–70% of the time).
Candidate Profile
- Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred, or equivalent technical experience.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years in facility condition assessments, building inspections, or related fields.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of building construction, MEP systems, and general building codes.
- Reporting: Experience writing FCA reports and preparing cost estimates.
- Software: Familiarity with FCA software (e.g., BUILDER, VFA.facility) is advantageous.
- Other: Strong communication skills, high attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
