At DATCP, we strive to deliver efficient and effective programs and services to Wisconsin agriculture, consumers, and businesses. The Department has numerous on-the-job training (OJT) opportunities, unique to each Bureau.
These OJT opportunities include direct experience and practice through collaboration with co-workers/supervisor, peer mentoring, and job-specific training modules. This position will be provided with National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) training on inspection procedures for multiple devices and inspection types.
Conditions of Employment:
DATCP does not sponsor work visas. Any appointment made will be contingent on the selected applicant being able to provide documentation of eligibility to work in the United States.
A criminal background check will be performed on the selected applicant prior to an offer of employment.
Applicant must be a resident of Wisconsin (18 years of age or older).
Limited term positions are not civil service classified positions, do not have rights to permanent civil service classified positions, and do not lead to permanent status.
This position is Limited Term Employment (LTE) and is limited to 1,039 hours in 26 consecutive pay periods (1 year)
A valid driver’s license and the eligibility to drive a State of Wisconsin Fleet Vehicle* is required.

Additionally, your driving record MUST NOT reflect any of the following conditions:
Three or more moving violations and/or at-fault accidents in the past two years;
Operating While Intoxicated (OWI)/Driving Under the Influence (DUI) citation within the past 12 months;
Suspension or revocation of driver’s license.
Travel is required for approximately 80% of this position’s duties with occasional overnights.
Ability to drive in urban or rural areas and in adverse weather conditions is required.
Ability to stand, bend, sit, stoop, walk, climb; often on wet and/or uneven surfaces is required.
Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. routinely; up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
Outdoor work is required and conditions frequently are dusty, dirty, and may be hazardous.
