Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support
- Monitor patient observations and vital signs to track health status and report changes promptly
- Administer medications and perform catheter care following prescribed protocols and medical terminology standards
- Support clients with dementia, Alzheimer's, memory care, and end-of-life needs with patience and compassion
- Document medical records accurately using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems while maintaining HIPAA compliance
- Provide light housekeeping duties such as cleaning, laundry, meal preparation, and ensuring a safe environment
- Utilize assistive devices like Hoyer lifts safely during transfers and mobility assistance while practicing heavy lifting techniques when necessary
- Collaborate with family members, healthcare professionals, and other caregivers to deliver comprehensive home & community care
Skills
- Strong patient observation skills to identify changes in health or behavior promptly
- Prior assisted living experience and familiarity with geriatric care enhance your ability to meet client needs effectively
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medication administration, vital signs measurement, and basic life support (CPR/First Aid) is essential
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia enhances your caregiving versatility
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems for accurate medical documentation and record keeping
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using proper techniques and equipment like Hoyer lifts when needed
- Excellent communication skills for working with patients, families, and healthcare teams within home health regulations
- Compassionate caregiving attitude combined with reliability to provide consistent support in live-in or home health settings
