Foundry General Laborer
Foundry General Laborers are responsible for operating various machines and tools around the foundry to aid in the production of castings and ingots. Work collaboratively with team members and supervisors to achieve production goals.
Description:
- Operate hand grinders, belt grinders, saws, and other similar equipment.
- Set up, operate, or tend metal, casting.
- Pour and regulate the flow of molten metal into molds and forms to produce castings, using ladles or hand-controlled mechanisms.
- Read temperature gauges and observe color changes, adjusting furnace flames, torches, or electrical heating units as necessary to melt metal to specifications.
- Observe continuous operation of automatic machines to ensure that products meet specifications and to detect jams or malfunctions, making adjustments as necessary.
- Remove finished or cured products from dies or molds, using hand tools, air hoses, and other equipment, stamping identifying information on products when necessary.
- Examine molds to ensure they are clean, smooth, and properly coated.
- Other duties as assigned
Experience And Education
- High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate)
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods working on feet, using tools, and performing repetitive actions that entail frequent bending and stooping.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
- Ability to work in high heat environment.
