Position Title: Finance Review Specialist
Company: Willow & Ivy Learning Studio LLC
Location: Remote (NYC preferred)
Job Type: Contract / Part-Time
Start Date: TBD
About the Role
Willow & Ivy Learning Studio LLC is a growing education company operating four programs — Learn & Grow Tutoring Company, The Education Shift, Verity Academic, and Educator Career Shift. We are seeking a sharp and experienced Finance Review Specialist to serve as our internal financial checkpoint. This role does not process day-to-day transactions — instead, you review, reconcile, and verify the work of our Finance Operations Coordinator and report directly to the CEO. Your job is to make sure everything adds up and nothing slips through.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and verify all financial activity logged by the Finance Operations Coordinator on a weekly basis
- Reconcile all accounts monthly across Gusto, Novo, and Wave to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Cross-check contractor payments, categorized expenses, and income records against source documents
- Identify and flag any inconsistencies, errors, or irregularities to the CEO immediately
- Prepare a clear monthly financial summary report for the CEO covering all four business lines
- Provide profit and loss snapshots and cash flow summaries to support business decision-making
- Advise the CEO on financial organization, compliance deadlines, and any emerging risks
- Serve as a second set of eyes on all significant financial decisions
Qualifications
- Experience in accounting, financial review, or bookkeeping oversight (required)
- Strong understanding of reconciliation, financial reporting, and internal controls
- Proficiency with Wave, QuickBooks, or equivalent accounting software
- Familiarity with Gusto and business banking platforms is a strong plus
- High level of integrity and independence — this role requires objective, unbiased review
- Comfortable communicating directly with a CEO and delivering honest assessments
- Experience with small business, LLC, or multi-entity financial oversight is preferred
Ideal Candidate
- Approaches every review with a critical eye and does not take records at face value
- Understands that their primary obligation is accuracy and transparency to the CEO
- Comfortable serving as a financial safeguard in a growing entrepreneurial organization
- Brings a calm, professional approach to identifying and resolving discrepancies
Important Note
This role operates within a two-person accountability structure alongside a Finance Operations Coordinator. You do not share access or responsibilities with the Coordinator — your role is independent review. Master account credentials are held by the CEO. All findings are reported directly and exclusively to the CEO.
Compensation
Compensation details will be shared during the interview process. Role begins with a paid one-week trial.
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
